A rare tribal corn variety that was found in the Srikakulam area of Andhra State. The multi colour of these seeds had me on a wild goose chase for 4 years. I was never able to stabilise this variety, despite my best efforts, into its constituent colours. Every time I grew them, the cobs would come multicoloured. Then I researched that this was an expression of a genetic phenomenon called “Transposon genes” or “Jumping Genes”. Checkout this link that will explain what this is. http://biologicalexceptions.blogspot.com/2015/11/corn-color-concepts.html
Very hardy variety, it has a hard outer kernel and therefore a “Flint Corn”. Excellent for hand pounded flat bread making..
