Found this gem near Nasik, Maharastra. Small round succulent fruit with a distinctive rust brown colour.  Very tasty flesh and great for the smoked flavour of ‘bartha baingan”.  This variety is fast facing extinction and needs to be revived.  Excellent for pot cultivation.
